Feast of Tabernacles
2010

Friday, Sept. 24 through Sabbath, Oct. 2

WHAT’S NEW

Sound a Trumpet will be hosting a small feast site for anyone in the northwest Ohio, northeast Indiana, or southeast Michigan area who is new to the study of the Hebrew roots of our faith and new to obeying the commandment to keep the feasts of God as spelled out in the Torah. Of course the site is open to anyone from anywhere, but we thought someone new to keeping the feasts might want to find a site a little closer to home.

A Feast Site for Newbies

The purpose of this site is to introduce the "new believer" to the idea of gathering in fellowship with other believers. The theme for the feast this year is learning about God's feasts and why we keep them in a world where they have been largely lost to all but Judaism or some Sabbath-keeping church groups.

This is the ideal place for those who have never kept the feast or for those who have just begun in the past few years. It is designed for adults only as no youth or children's programs are planned at this time.

A Camping Experience in a Unique Setting

Space is limited to only 3-4 tent sites and one small RV (approximately 10-12 people on location), so anyone interested needs to get their reservations in early. It will be first come, first served for campsites. Others within driving distance will be attending and there are some motels near by for those who don't want to camp.

The location is unique in that the hostess is opening up her home and good-sized suburban yard to believers who desire to gather for fellowship and obedience to God's Word. While not Jerusalem, the setting might be likened to it in that it is located inside of a municipality (in this case a small village) and a resident is opening her home to visitors for the feast, at a location where there will be neighbors on all sides, albeit none of them are believers in Hebrew Roots.

As it is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, it will be a quiet site for study, conversation, and meals together. Most events will be outdoors at picnic tables or inside a screened in porch. If the weather turns bad, we'll have the residence to move into for services and study. If we get more reservations than originally thought or than can be contained comfortably, a meeting tent will be set-up.

The campsite area will be cozy.

Ammenities

It will be a camping experience for those in attendance, but not in a totally primitive way. Tent campers will need to bring their own tent and camping gear, but electrical connections are available, as well as a garden hose hookup for an RV or to bring water to a camp site.

The residence will be open to all, as well as the kitchen and bathroom facilities. A clothes washer and dryer is also available. Once all the reservations are in, showers will be scheduled on a rotating basis to allow for hot water tank recovery.

Refrigeration space for personal use is limited, so bring your coolers. Ice is available close by.

Costs

There is a non-refundable $50 registration fee, but no additional costs associated with attendance. This fee is to cover the cost of someone making a reservation and cancelling at the last minute. A love offering for the hostess will be taken at some point to help defray the extra costs for water and electricity during the days of the Feast.

OTHER COSTS:
All in attendance will need to bring food sufficient for the full Feast. We will prepare and enjoy the evening meals together, but breakfast and lunch are on your own. Once the reservations are in, each attendee will be sent a small grocery list that they agree to provide and bring to the Feast for the preparation of the evening meals. The meals will be planned ahead and the needed items equally distributed among all attending.

A propane grill is available and will be heavily used in meal planning and preparation. It will also be available to anyone at any other time as well.

No paper plates, cups, napkins, etc. will be provided, so all need to bring their own dishes and needed items. Dishwashing will be available in the kitchen.

Any other costs would be associated with special events we might plan or for eating out if one wanted to do so.

Schedule of Events
The schedule is currently designed around a morning worship service each day, some afternoon study sessions, and evening fellowship times. A chiminea is available in the picnic table area for fellowship around the fire. No open fires are permitted at the campsites, but anyone can bring an enclosed firepit for their campsite or to share with others. Just no open fires on the ground.

There are several restaurants and fast food establishments in the area for any desiring to eat out. One or two special events may be planned, such as an afternoon at our world-famous zoo or one of the multiple metroparks in the area.

This is not an exclusively Messianic or Sacred Name site. It is designed for people who are just beginning the discovery of Hebrew Roots. There are no restrictions on dress (although modest dress is required), and there is no requirement for tallits, tzi-tzi's, or head coverings, etc., but there is also no restriction against them either. Each must follow what they believe at this time.

Any men in attendance will be asked to take leadership roles during worship services. This is not meant to be intimidating or threatening in any way. All the services will be planned, so it basically amounts to just being asked to step up and take the lead.

The messages will be either study papers, recorded audio sermons, or Q&A sessions. Discussions are open to all. Music will all be recorded, either traditional or Messianic — no rock and roll or contemporary Christian. Anyone having a musical talent on guitar, violin, keyboard, flute, or other musical instrument is welcome to bring their instrument and make a joyful noise before YHWH.

To register, EMAIL the hostess. A registration form and additional information will be emailed to you. After receiving your registration, more detailed information, location directions, a list of what you need to bring, schedules and more information about the Feast will be sent.

Come and enjoy the Feast
with us.
