October 3, 2009

Scriptures used in this service are from the Restored Name King James Version of the Bible.

Torah Reading: Leviticus 22:26—23:44
Haftarah Reading: Zechariah 14:1-24

(Portions of the Torah and Haftarah readings are included in the following service, but you may want to read them in total before, after, or at some point during your Sabbath observance.)

MESSIANIC OPENING (Others may drop down to “Call to Worship”)
(Written for families — modify parts for other small groups or for individuals)

Lighting of Candles
The father says:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim … Through him all things were made … In him was life, and that life was the light of men. … The Word became flesh and lived for a while among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:1,3,14). Yahshua is ‘the light of the world’ (John 8:12), the ‘true light that gives light to every man’ (John 1:9). Through him we are empowered to be lights in the world (Phil. 2:15). As we light these two Shabbat candles, we set this night apart unto Yahweh to remember that we are given both physical rest and spiritual rest through the gift of Yahweh by his Son, Yashua Messiah.
The mother lights two candles while saying this blessing:
Blessed are you, O Yahweh our Elohim, King of the universe, who has set us apart by your Word and has called us to be the light of the world.

Blessing Yahweh for the Wine
The father pours wine into a cup, and holds it up, saying:
Wine represents to us the joy that we have in knowing that through the shed blood of Yahshua we have ceased from our labors and entered into his rest. Through it we remember the price that he paid for our redemption.
The father prays this blessing:
Blessed are you, O Yahweh our Elohim, King of the universe, who creates the fruit of the vine.
All partake of the cup.

Blessing Yahweh for the Bread
The father holds up the bread, saying:
Bread reminds us that we have shared the true bread from heaven in the person of Yahshua, our Master.
The father prays this blessing:
Blessed are you, O Yahweh our Elohim, King of the universe, who brings forth bread from the earth.
All partake of the bread.

Blessings on Wife, Husband, Sons, and Daughters

Call to Worship (Psalm 95:1-7a)
O come, let us sing unto YHVH: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
For YHVH is a great El, and a great King above all elohim.
In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also.
The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.
O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before YHVH our maker.
For he is our Elohim; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

Hymn #134 (Burgundy Hymnal, piano accompaniment only)

O Come and Let Us Worship Him
Psalm 95
Dwight Armstrong

O come, let us in songs to Yah (God), Our cheerful voices raise;
In joyful shouts let us the Rock Of our salvation praise!
Before His presence let us come With praise and thankful voice;
Let us sing psalms to Him with grace, And make a joyful noise!

For Yah (God), a mighty El (God) and King; Above all Elohim (Gods) He is;
The depths of earth are in His hand, The strength of hills is His.
To Him the spacious sea belongs, For He the same did make;
The dry land also from His hands Its form at first did take.

O come, and let us worship Him, Let us bow down withal;
And on our knees, before Yahweh (the Lord), Our Maker, let us fall.
Because He only is our El (God); And we His people are;
And of His pasture, we are sheep In His Almighty care.

Prayer of Praise and Adoration
We praise and adore you, O Yahweh, Elohim of faithfulness, who has brought us through the centuries and the ages down to this great time of preparation. We come, young and old, from different places and different backgrounds to offer this time of worship to you. Your people are gathered in camps all around the world to observe this feast of shelters as you commanded. In your loving mercy you have shown us your great plan for mankind. We praise you for blessing us in this way and for revealing your love for us in Yahshua Messiah. With his endless love flowing through us and your Holy Spirit guiding us, may our faithfulness also be great and our love for all you have created never cease and may we all be prepared to enter into your great kingdom on the appointed day and hour. In Yahshua’s name we pray. Amen.

Prayer on the Word
The Promises to the Seven Churches
         Revelation 2: 7b, 11b, 17b, 26-28; 3:5, 12, 21

To Ephesus he promises: To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of Elohim.

To Smyrna he promises: He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

To Pergamum he promises: To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

To Thyatira he promises: And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. And I will give him the morning star.

To Sardis he promises: He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

To Philadelphia he promises: Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my Elohim, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my Elohim, and the name of the city of my Elohim, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my Elohim: and I will write upon him my new name.

To Laodicea he promises: To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

Holy Father, we believe these promises. We believe that you created us to live and not to die. We believe that your promise of eternal life is ours to claim if we hold fast to you and your commandments and overcome the snares and deceits of this world. Assist us, Master, to overcome and to see that great day when all the promises are poured out in your holy kingdom. In the name of our Master Yashua Messiah, amen.

Torah Scripture Readings
Leviticus 23:33-44 RNKJV
33 And YHVH spake unto Moses, saying,
34 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto YHVH.
35 On the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
36 Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto YHVH: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto YHVH: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein.
37 These are the feasts of YHVH, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto YHVH, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day:
38 Beside the sabbaths of YHVH, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which ye give unto YHVH.
39 Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto YHVH seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath.
40 And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before YHVH your Elohim seven days.
41 And ye shall keep it a feast unto YHVH seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.
42 Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths:
43 That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am YHVH your Elohim.
44 And Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of YHVH.

Deuteronomy 16:13-15 RNKJV
13
Thou shalt observe the feast of tabernacles seven days, after that thou hast gathered in thy corn and thy wine:
14 And thou shalt rejoice in thy feast, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite, the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates.
15 Seven days shalt thou keep a solemn feast unto YHVH thy Elohim in the place which YHVH shall choose: because YHVH thy Elohim shall bless thee in all thine increase, and in all the works of thine hands, therefore thou shalt surely rejoice.

Hymn #136 (Burgundy Hymnal, piano accompaniment only)

Sing Praises And Rejoice!
Psalm 98
Dwight Armstrong

O sing a new song to Yahweh (the Lord), for wonders He hath done:
His right hand and His holy arm Him victory hath won.
Yahweh (The Lord) His salvation, hath caused it to be known;
His justice in the nation’s sight He openly hath shown.

He mindful of His grace and truth to Isr’el’s house hath been;
The great salvation of our El (God) all ends of the earth have seen.
Let all the earth unto Yahweh (the Lord) send forth a joyful noise;
Lift up your voice aloud to Him, sing praises, and rejoice.

With harp, with harp, and voice of psalms, O sing unto Yahweh (the Lord)!
With trumpets, cornets, gladly sound before Yahweh (the Lord) the King.
Let seas and all their fullness roar; the world, and dwellers there;
Let floods clap hands, and let the hills together joy declare.

O sing a new song to Yahweh (the Lord), for wonders He hath done:
His right hand and His holy arm Him victory hath won.
Before Yahweh (the Lord); because He comes, to judge the earth comes He:
He’ll judge the world with righteousness, His folk with equity.

Those Who Walk With Messiah

Those who walk with Messiah
shan’t live like lords or kings,
but they shall know the hidden joy
which pulses through all things.

Those who embrace his truth
need never fear dismay,
though earth and sky dissolve
he will not go away.

Those who dine with him
will never be mislead,
the wisdom of all worlds
hides in each crumb of bread.

Those who die with him
need never die in fear;
he says when evening comes,
“Now you be of good cheer.”

Heritage Prayer
Adoration is Yours

It is right Yahweh, that we should sing your praises,
and be glad and happy with you!
Evil folk run away from you in fear,
but hosts of saints cling to you.
How could we not bow before you
in loving adoration?

You are the Spirit Supreme,
the creator and saviour of the world.
You are from before the beginning,
and beyond the end,
the ultimate Treasure of the universe,
the Knower of all who seeks to be known.

O you who are before and behind us;
adoration is yours.
O you who are within and beyond us;
adoration is yours.
O you who are the hope and the seed,
the fruit and the consummation;
adoration is yours!

Readings from the Writings and Prophets
Nehemiah 8:13-18 RNKJV
13
And on the second day were gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, unto Ezra the scribe, even to understand the words of the law.
14 And they found written in the law which YHVH had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month:
15 And that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, Go forth unto the mount, and fetch olive branches, and pine branches, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.
16 So the people went forth, and brought them, and made themselves booths, every one upon the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of Elohim, and in the street of the water gate, and in the street of the gate of Ephraim.
17 And all the congregation of them that were come again out of the captivity made booths, and sat under the booths: for since the days of Jeshua the son of Nun unto that day had not the children of Israel done so. And there was very great gladness
18 Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of the law of Elohim. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according unto the manner.

Zechariah 14:6-19 RNKJV
6
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark:
7 But it shall be one day which shall be known to YHVH, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.
8 And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.
9 And YHVH shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one YHVH, and his name one.
10 All the land shall be turned as a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem: and it shall be lifted up, and inhabited in her place, from Benjamins gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the kings winepresses.
11 And men shall dwell in it, and there shall be no more utter destruction; but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited.
12 And this shall be the plague wherewith YHVH will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue she will consume away in their mouth.
13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from YHVH shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.
14 And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance.
15 And so shall be the plague of the horse, of the mule, of the camel, and of the ass, and of all the beasts that shall be in these tents, as this plague.
16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, YHVH of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
17 And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, YHVH of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
18 And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith YHVH will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

Prayer of Confession
Merciful Yahweh, when we think or your great faithfulness and steadfast love, we confess how far we fall short of both. There are times when we judge others by our standards of faithfulness rather than yours. We confess that there are times when we believe that our works of faith earn us “brownie points” with you. And there are even times when we consider that our faith grows when we speak words about faith without making that faith evident in and through our lives. We confess also that our busy-ness can so distract us that we let opportunities slip by to plant even the smallest seeds of faith.
Forgive us and increase our faith, O Yahweh, so that we can uproot any obstacles which hinder our faithfulness.
We confess that we often read the words of the prophet Zechariah and rather than recognizing the continuity down through the ages of your great plan, we often feel vindicated because we are different from those around us. In our smugness, we often fail to uplift others with your promises, but rather bludgeon them with your truth.
Forgive us, O Yahweh, when we fail to share your word in ways that uplift and build faithfulness. This we pray in Yahshua’s name. Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness
Through the steadfast love and endless mercy of Yahweh, we are saved, not according to our words or actions, but according to Yahweh’s purpose and grace—grace that was revealed through our Savior Yahshua Messiah.
Thanks be to Yahweh.

Epistle Reading
Revelation 21:1-7 RNKJV
1
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from YHVH out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of YHVH is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and YHVH himself shall be with them, and be their Elohim.
4 And YHVH shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his Elohim, and he shall be my son.

Revelation 21:9-17 RNKJV
9
And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lambs wife.
10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from YHVH,
11 Having the glory of YHVH: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.
14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.
16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.

Revelation 21:22-27 RNKJV
22
And I saw no temple therein: for the YHVH El-Shaddai and the Lamb are the temple of it.
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of YHVH did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.
27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lambs book of life.

Hymn #206 (Burgundy Hymnal, piano accompaniment only)

Behold, The Day Will Come
Zechariah 14
Dwight Armstrong

Behold, the day will come, the day of Yahweh (the Lord) our El (God)!
He shall bring all nations in that day against Jerusalem,
They shall take the city and share the spoil, in the very midst of them
Then our El (God) Eternal shall go forth, and shall fight against our foes!

In that great day of Yah (God), our Master (Lord) shall stand on earth!
On the Mount of Olives He shall stand, and the mount shall cleave in two!
There shall be a valley of mammoth size; by the valley you shall flee;
For our El (God) Eternal shall be King, And shall rule over all the earth!

In that great day of Yah (God), t’will be neither day nor night;
But at even time it shall be light; it shall be one day to Yah (God).
Out from Zion shall living waters flow to the east and to the west;
Then our El (God) Eternal shall be King; in that day shall there be one Yah (God)!

Behold that day shall come, when all nations shall obey!
Those of all the nations that are left, to Jerusalem shall go;
They shall even go there from year to year, and shall keep the Feast of Booths;
There shall be one El (God), the Eternal, Who is King over all the earth!

The Shema
       Hear, O Israel, Yahweh our Elohim is One. Blessed be the name of Yahweh whose glorious kingdom is forever! You shall love Yahweh your Elohim with all of your heart. You shall love Yahweh your Elohim with all of your soul. You shall love Yahweh your Elohim with all of your mind. You shall love Yahweh your Elohim with all your strength.
       And these words, which I am instructing you today, shall be on your heart, and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them, when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. And you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets on your forehead. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house, and on your gates. (Deut. 6:6-9)

       Yahshua said, “You shall love Yahweh your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matt. 22:37-39)

Closing Prayer
Receive and bless the gift of our lives, O Yahweh, for we offer them in response to the great gift of your Word to us — Yahshua, our Savior and Master. May our lives reflect your glory and bear the imprint of your love as we reach out to others in Yahshua’s name. Amen.

Aaronic Blessing
Yahweh bless you and keep you: Yahweh make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you: Yahweh lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.
